Sounds Like a Great Place!

My new comp is Elder Quiroga and he is from Bolivia. He and I both entered the field together and were together in the CCM. So we are a couple of young guns tearing it up in the Jungle. We are assigned to two areas, a ward and a branch. The area of the branch (Versalles) has actually been closed for about 8 months and the ward (Mi Peru) is in need of some serious help. When we arrived in our apartment and opened up the area book to see our investigators it was pretty much empty. We have a lot of work to do but we are both excited for the challenge. The members are slowly but surely warming up to us but it is taking some time. They haven’t had elders in their chapel for quite some time so they aren’t really sure what to do with us, lol. Elder Quiroga and I are really focusing our work with the members and trying to include them is as much as we can.

They have changed our eating routine a little bit for us, now every lunch we are eating with members. It is really great and it’s so much fun getting to know the members. They seriously bend over backwards to make sure that we are taking care of. We still have a pensionista but she only cooks breakfast and dinner. Our apartment is small and we have to sleep in a bug net. It’s also a rule that we have to wear bug repellant and sunscreen every day, so it reminds me a lot of camping. With the constant aroma of bug spray and sunscreen, yeah I’m loving it!

As for that everything is really great. We have a ton of work to do but we are definitely excited and thankful for the challenge. I love you guys and thanks for everything. The church is still true, even here in IQUITOS!!!
