P-Day Service and Tacos!

Monday for P-Day we took off for the center of Lima to lend a hand in The Bishops Storehouse. The entire zone (sixteen missionaries) served there for a pair of hours and we all left with a great feeling. We packaged rice, beans, sugar, and oats as well as staked shelves. The workers said that it was the first time that a zone of missionaries had come to lend service on their P-Day. It was a great way to keep focused on why we are really here and to keep the spirit of service strong. We were able to unite us more as a zone and all and all it turned out great.

We have a companionship of two Elders from Guatemala here in the zone and Monday night they offered to cook us dinner. They made us Guatemala style Tacos!!! (Beef, Onions, Cilantro, Aji, Pineapple, Guacamole, and tomato sauce) Monday afternoon we went to Metro (The Peruvian style WinCo) to buy all that we would need and the funny thing is that the hardest thing to find were the tortillas. That night they came to our room and we got busy slicing and dicing. I got put in charge of cutting the onions and it moved me to tears. Elder Velazquez, Elder Ruiz, and Elder Puente took full advantage of letting me know that I was crying. The tacos turned out great and we topped it off with an ice cold Coca-Cola. I’m getting excited to be able to share some of the Peruvian dishes with you all, especially the ones that don’t include a lot of rice.

It looks as if you all know more than I do when it comes to when and how I am arriving home. As for the appointments I do have a few favors. I need appointments with: The Dentist, The Doctor, The Chiropractor, and with The Stake President. That same afternoon (2nd of December) when I get home I can have my interview with The Stake President and get released. Thanks so much for getting things organized and helping me out. Ask Curt what I will need to do when I get home to be able to work in the Hospital as a translator.

Well Family I hope this letter finds you all enjoying the snow and cold weather. The sun has finally come out here in Lima and is starting to warm things up a bit. I love you all and pray for you always. Keep on Keeping On!
